Google may be experimenting with a new photo-sharing app Google may be experimenting with a new photo-sharing app

According to recent reports that are showing up all over the Internet, Google is working on a new photos-based app, but this time one that focuses a lot more on social aspects. According to the online publication TechCrunch, this new application will allow groups to edit and organize pictures together. If the rumors turn out to be true, a collaborative photo-editing tool could be quite interesting, especially one enhanced by Google's machine learning algorithms.

Just so we're clear, at the moment this is just a rumor as nothing is confirmed and even the sources quoted in a different report by The Verge state that it's just an experiment and that it may never see the light of day, so don't get too excited just yet. However, what is clear is that the IT giant isn't planning to launch yet another chat-only tool as with the recent launch of Meet, the company already has too many of those.

From what I understand, the app that Google is allegedly working on is very similar to Paths, a lesser known tool that enables small groups of people to share photos together, edit them and chat. Furthermore, as far as I know, the IT giant has actually tried to acquire the application, but it ended up being bought by the Korean messaging giant, Kakao (the one that made KakaoTalk) and slowly sank into obscurity. I for one can't wait to see Google having another go in the social media sector; maybe this time its efforts will actually be successful.
