Microsoft's Hyperlapse App for Android No Longer in Beta Microsoft's Hyperlapse App for Android No Longer in Beta

If you're a fan of the time lapse filming technique, I have some really good news for you: Microsoft's Hyperlapse application for Android is no longer in its Beta stages. The official version of the app can be downloaded from Google's Play Store for free, but you will need Android 4.4 or a newer version of the operating system in order to run it. The Beta version of the tool has been available since May, but now you no longer need to sign up with Microsoft and download an entire bundle to condense your videos.

The Hyperlapse app for Android allows its users to turn hours of footage into minutes by increasing the playback speed. All you have to do is to shoot the video, then use the application to modify its speed and share it with your friends via the many supported social networks. (The speed selection ranges from 1x to 32x.) Furthermore, you can do this with some of the existing videos on your phone. Last, but definitely not least, there's also a selfie mode which will allow you to time lapse videos of your face.

If you're an iOS user, I know that Microsoft's app is nothing special as Instagram already offers the same functionality on Apple's mobile operating system. Unfortunately, when it launched the feature, the company said that hyperlapse will never be ported to Android as the gyroscope and the camera's API function in a completely different way. However, it seems that Microsoft has found the solution and the end result is pretty cool.
