Google has finally announced the long-awaited new version of Android, named Lollipop.
One of Android L's most notable features is 'Material Design', a brand new consistent interface having flatter icons, physics-based animations, and a bolder color palette. It is supposed to make the experience of using Android apps and the platform smoother.
Google says that the new version of Android will make it easier to sync things such as songs, photos, apps across Android devices. So now it will be even more convenient to leave off a half-watched movie on your TV and continue watching it on your tablet.
Another important change with Android L is that now it is optimized for 64-bit architecture. Android 5.0 will also have native 64-bit versions of some apps including Chrome, Gmail, Calendar, and Google Play Music.
Lollipop will also feature a new battery saving feature that will extend you Android device's battery life up to 90 minutes. Among other changes waiting for us in Android L are new ways to control notifications during, for example, an important meeting, new guest user mode allowing for lending your phone to your friends, and an ability to secure your smartphone or tablet with a trusted device.
According to the company, Android 5.0 will come on Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player, and will also be released for Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Google Play Edition devices in the coming weeks.
