Android Screen Casting is Now Available Android Screen Casting is Now Available

The recently released update finally allows you to add some extra inches to the size of your screen, in case you've got a Chromecast, of course. From now on you can cast all your mobile activities (including audio stream) to a larger screen. Unfortunately, the option is currently available to a limited number of devices on the list below, but the update is expected to roll out to other devices pretty soon. So, here they are:

  • Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 10
  • Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 (2014)
  • HTC One M7
  • LG G Pro2, LG G2, LG G3

Not that many, as you see, but folks at xda-developers forums have found the way to extend the list a little bit, so you may also put Moto X there. To make screen casting work on the Motorola handset one should downgrade Google Play Services to its factory version. This will break a whole load of Google apps, but the casting option will become available. So if you've got a Moto X but can't wait for the official release of the update, you are welcome to give it a shot.
