Virtual reality is getting more and more present in today's tech market and Samsung's Gear VR is one of the most popular VR devices as it doesn't require an expensive PC in order to function properly. However, up until now, the users didn't have an in-built option that would allow them to capture images and videos from their virtual reality sessions. Oculus has decided to change that and has launched two capture utilities for the supported phones.

Oculus has just start rolling out an update to all Gear VR-compatible phones (Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Note 5, S6, and S6 Edge) that adds two new options to the utilities menu: capture screenshots and capture images. While I don't think that the term "screenshot" is actually appropriate for a virtual reality experience, I'm sure that you know what the company means by that. At the moment, these utilities aren't really that great: the maximum image resolution is 1024×1024 and if you want to record a video, you will need to record the audio separately, so third-party solution are still better. Nevertheless, even though these tools aren't yet at a professional level, it's still a good start and things can only get better from here.
