Android Games: The Walking Dead Android Games: The Walking Dead

The award-winning game has finally made its way to Android. All six episodes of The Walking Dead: Season 1 are now available on Google Play for every single Android device. Yes, the sixth is «the special episode».

If you are not into zombies, or just somehow missed it, I'll give you a quick review of what The Walking Dead actually is. Initially, a TV series, based on a comic book that tells a story of people who managed to survive the zombie apocalypse and the way they had to cope with the hardships of their new way of life. The concept of the whole thing is that in the world enthralled by zombies, rotten corpses that wander around in search for human flesh is not the scariest thing; sometimes humans are the creatures you should be afraid of.

The events of the game developed by Telltale Games take place in the same fictional world of the comic book, yet the characters of the game are absolutely authentic and each possesses a very elaborate image and personality. You play as Lee Everett, a convicted murderer on his way to prison. Naturally, something goes wrong and, to your own harm, you escape. The game is basically about making choices that will affect your relationships with companions, their lives and the way the story unfolds.

So, coming back to the new stuff. The last episode of the game was released for PC and iOS over a year ago and the whole game was a huge success, so maybe Telltale has made something new and exclusive for Android? Unfortunately, that is not the case. Moreover, if you compare it to the PC version, you'll see that the interactive part of the game was reduced and some actions that were originally under the control of the player are now mere scripted sequences. The graphics quality was also slightly reduced, but on the whole the game still looks pretty nice.

And, of course, the price. If you go to Google Play, you'll see that the game is free, but don't get too excited. What you get after you hit the download button is the first episode of the game. Each consequent episode is available as an in-game purchase and will cost you € 3.59 (or about $5). You can also buy the whole pack for €10.89, but think twice, because for $15 (almost the same amount of money) you can buy a PC version on Steam. Yet, the game is still an unforgettable experience and, I think, I would buy it if it went on sale. At least, it is really worth giving a shot, as the first episode is free to play. So, if you want to try it or just feeling nostalgic about the refreshing post-apocalyptic scenaries, hit the link.
