Bixby, Samsung Galaxy S8's assistant, won't have a voice yet
According to a recent statement made by Samsung, Bixby, one of the highlight features of the soon-to-be-launched Galaxy S8, will be pretty quite when it arrives. Don't get the wrong impression, the digital assistant isn't shy; however, it seems that its voice won't be ready in time for the launch date. Honestly, I understand the incredible effort Samsung had to make to get into the assistant game, but launching a voice assistant without a voice is a bit awkward.
The company has also stated that Bixby's voice will arrive "later this spring", but it didn't offer an exact date for when that will happen. As far as I understand, most of the assistant's features such as Vision or the interesting notification screen called Bixby Home will be there, so just the Bixby Voice functionality will be missing. That's a bit disappointing because I was really looking forward to seeing everything that Bixby can do, especially since its camera and text-related functionality make it different from Siri or Google Assistant.
Hopefully, the company's other clients won't be too saddened by this announcement because, as far as I know, the Galaxy S8 preorders are rolling like crazy, which means that the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco hasn't completely tarnished the company's good name on the smartphone market.
