Twitter Launches the Highlights Feature for Android
Twitter just started rolling out a new feature called Highlights which will summarize the most important Tweets of the day for each user. At the moment, this new functionality is only available for those who use Android-powered smartphones, and, unfortunately, I can't tell you when it will become available on iOS or Windows Phone. The only information we have is a statement made by the company saying they are considering porting the feature to other platforms.
The new Highlights feature is quite handy and also pretty easy to use. The first thing that you need to do is turn it on by checking the corresponding button in the notification settings. Once that's done, you will start receiving daily notifications (sometimes twice a day) which will take you to the Highlights section of the app. There, you will find the newest and most popular tweets from the people you know, along with the most important trending stories. When you're done, simply close Highlights, and you will be returned to the main feed.
In order to come up with the best content, Highlights takes into account a wide variety of criteria like accounts and conversations that are popular amongst the people you follow, events that happen near your location, tweets posted by people close to you, etc. At the moment this feature is only available in English, but I'm sure that it will soon be translated into other languages as well. Talking about the Highlights, Twitter's officials stated: "With this latest improvement, we’re delivering the best of Twitter to you, so it’s easier to catch up with your world."
If you want to read the entire announcement, you can find it on Twitter's official blog or by clicking on this link.
